| Support For Your Charity |

| Q: I have a charity that I am actively involved in, how would I work with the Elks to raise money for it? |
A: The Hopkins Elks lodge is a tremendous supporter of local charities and community programs. The lodge and its members can play many roles when supporting a specific charity or charitable activity. It can provide among other things:
- a facility to host a fundraiser
- monetary donations
- item donations (e.g. clothing)
- volunteers
The best vehicle for raising money for a particular cause is to host a fundraising event at the lodge to both educate the members and the public about the charity and to generate interest and enthusiasm for their programs.
To host an event at the lodge, you should contact Dean Paulson the club manager to determine availability. If the date is available, contact the House Committee and get the event approved and on the schedule. The club will work with you to define kitchen and/or food needs, facility requirements such as tables, chairs, bartenders etc.
If you want the lodge to donate to the event, you should present your request to the trustees for approval. You should be prepared to present the charity and what it does, who it serves, your role in the fundraising activity, a description of the event (e.g. book sale, cooking contest, breakfast) and the timeframe for when the event will occur.
